RMIT University wished to review the three galleries managed within its Research and Innovation Portfolio. It sought to look at structure and governance to better understand how these units were delivering on the University’s Strategic Plan. This was a sensitive process involving a close look at every aspect of the galleries’ operation.
All staff and several selected stakeholders were interviewed and offered multiple opportunities to discuss their roles, reporting and strategic direction. Case studies of other like institutions were studied in order to establish ‘best practice’ in the sector.
The recommendations were accepted and endorsed by the Executive Director and resulted in changes to the structure and governance.
