There had been considerable investment in the Port of Echuca but it had not delivered the benefits that were expected. Our role was to investigate the potential of the Port, not only the historic wharf but the wider precinct, and to establish a Vision that would bring the community together and forge a more cohesive plan for the future. The project included considerable consultation with the community - making real connections and digging deep to find the reasons behind the disillusion. The process was both extensive and intense, but we were able to establish a common vision and strategy for development that everyone supported and that was endorsed by Council. Hirst Projects has subsequently been commissioned to build on this work to enrich the Vision with stories of the Port that resonate with multiple segments and to bring community groups and businesses together to activate the Port and bring the Vision to life.
