The City of Latrobe recognises that it faces massive challenges as its industrial base changes. As a response, it determined that it would grow its reputation as a centre for engineering and develop a ‘Hall of Fame’.
We investigated the history and heritage of engineering in the Latrobe Valley, the region and its existing attractions and the markets that might be drawn both to the subject matter and a new destination. We also looked at the way such changes had been faced in similar places globally, at the new ways engineering was being showcased and how the Hall of Fame was being reinvented in the digital age.
We consulted with staff, stakeholders and potential partners to better understand what a Hall of Fame was intended to achieve.
We developed a new concept, working with education, tourism, adaptive re-use and brand enhancement, that will achieve their goals and take the Latrobe Valley forward into a new era.
